Looking for info on Leporinus Fasciatus (banded Leporinus)

Everything posted so far is correct.
They jump. They love algae waffers and other veggies. They do well in schools. At full size (12+") they will be fin biters.

They are fine when they are small, but get over 1 foot long, and get very agressive. They are vegi eaters so give them vegi wafers and dried algae.

I've seen this several times, but apparently not true of mine. :(

He's just over 2 inches long and we put him in with Anostomus ternetzi of his own size, 5 corycats, one blackfin shark over twice his size, and an adult opaline gourami.

He followed the gourami around, but didn't really do anything, however, he ravaged the fins on all 5 corycats, and him and my formerly peaceful ternetzi ganged up on the blackfin shark and killed it. We woke up to them attacking him. He wasn't quite dead when we removed it, but died a few minutes later, most of his fins were gone, his barbels, and his head was messed up.
We had to put the leporinus in another tank, the only other possible one being another 29 gallon with several feeder guppies and danios. Obviously he killed every single guppy and most of the danios, only leaving one lone male danio that he doesn't mess with (yet).
We're probably going to put some kind of small cichlid in with him, we just don't know what yet.
After we removed him my ternetzi went back to being pretty peaceful (other than the occassional fin nip).
So be warned, even the smaller ones can be extremely aggressive.

Here's his pic:

If you look closely he has a pretty good set of sharp teeth for such a small fish.
