I think that most folks here know who Rusty is, and have seen that vid and others. lol I'm not sure what the point was of showing that regarding what the OP was asking?

I assume the point was that most of Rusty's 180g are fairly heavily stocked with larger CA groups/pairs. He mentioned some tanks having 3-4 active pairs in a single tank.

Going back to my original question, I wasn't trying to figure out how many large fish I could jam into a tank, but more asking the question of is a 180g an appropriate (astetically and physically) for a full grown Melunura sized fish. In general I like my tanks to be a little later than absolutely necessary because I think big fish in small tanks look ridiculous even if it is generally an acceptable size for the given species.

I assume Rusty's tanks were originally set up for breeding, not so much for their aesthetics. They aren't exactly what most would refer to as biotope type set ups, nor are they to my personal liking. But that's just me. Obviously there is more than one way to approach this hobby, a lot of it depending on each persons goals.

Just playing devils advocate.
And RD’s last sentence summerizes my point.

I'm with you...I prefer much more of a natural look and feel and that's what I am going for with my larger tank.
