hey guys im looking for a new substrate for my rays. i currently have gravel and would think they would love me if i got them something new. i would like either sand or very fine gravel. i have heard good things about estes. plet let me know your opinions on what is the best. i didnt really find much info on estes. hook me up!! thanks guys.

Isn't there a website that distributes Estes sand? Like the fine grain black stingray safe kind? I can't remember the website.

i use the fineest gravel i have seen when i picked up my rays from franks place i took a sample and matched it its very very small smooth pebble gravel

i think sand is harder to clean and if you have black rays it makes them look dusty all the time

also if your tank is acrylic if the rays have any sand stuck to them when they are swimming up the side tank glass it will be like rubbing your tank with sand paper

i use black estes ultra marine sand, perfectly ray safe and cheap,. i bought it from pets-warehouse.com, kind of hard to keep clean but it looks great.

t1k do you know the brand of the fine gravels you got? thats what i want rather than sand, but if i can't find anything i will probably go with estes.

i will try to find out for you but it did take ages to find

i went to loads of shops with the little hanfull i got from frank

i found lots of the smooth pebble stuff but not as small as the one i have now its only 4x the size of a grain of sand

yeah thats what im looking for.. do you have any pics of the setup with that gravel in it?
