SRT-X (SRT+ Flowerhorn. Borrowed from JPlikewhoah) This is the breed fish your friend has.

There similarities, but they are all different. That fish you have there is an SRT-X.

It was sold to my friend by a "reputable?" transhipper / fish store owner in the West Covina, CA area.

I'm not into flowerhorns and would not know the difference but thank you for clarifying. I have a better idea now looking at the pics you posted
