Looking for some help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they appear to be locked shut and he is using his mouth to pass water over his gills
After looking at the video and hearing this description, I'm not convinced that there is anything wrong with the gills. Maybe something is wrong with the opercular flap? Or maybe, given I see lots of bubbles, you have very high DO concentrations and he simply doesn't need to work hard to breathe. The fish does not look like it is in distress to me. It does look like it would appreciate some cover.

Yeah i pulled out all of his fake plants yesterday as i am getting ready to rebuild his tank with real ones. He also has his cave on the other side that you cant see in the video. I never did consider the opercular flap. I do have lots of circulation in there, about 1400gph flowing through his tank so there is no shortage of oxygen in my tank. I dont have a oxygen sensor to test that theory but i think were covered here. If you guys think he is alright, that makes me a bit happier for sure as a few weeks ago i thought he was a goner for sure. He does look a lot better now. I am going to get some help here in a few minutes and we will pull him out of the tank and get a better picture of the gills for you guys to be sure.
