Looking for the perfect bichir combo

Lol, exactly!

Its an Oscar with even a bigger appetite! Milder than an Oscar, probably slightly bigger than most Oscars and a pretty decent community cichlid that does well with smaller fish.

What really got me into them was the video by Aquamojo of his pearsei chasing an aquarium magnet

They eat everything but should be fed enough vegi based foods to be healthy. They need lots of water changes and a big tank. they are very heavy bodied fish.

So I think I will change out my stock a bit. I am leaning toward rehoming my rhino pleco (mostly due to aggression toward other bottom dwellers) and the hoplo cat due to small size issue that could result in it getting eaten... though it is bigger round than my del

So bichir stocking would be my weeksii (13"), del (9") and likely a koliba or ?
Will see what I can get

More food for thought, while there are some really good suggestions in this thread the only opinion that matters is yours, because what may be "perfect" to one person may not be to another.

True, I am the one making the decision. I guess I should have asked more of the recommendations of community friendly bichir. The ones that seem to get along best with each other. Just from what I have gathered that Ornates can be bullies, Endli can be aggressive and eat tankmates, a couple other types just get really too big. So it leaves me a choice with most upper jaws and a couple lower jaws to add. I have some feelers out to some vendors as to stock so I will wait and see based on the stock and what I can afford.

well it looks like the one vendor came through with a koliba so my final bichir stocking will be a weeksii, a del and a koliba. I decided to rehome the rhino pleco and hoplo cat to make room for the new addition.

Every time I look at your avatar ,that pearsai seems like saying "dont mess with me mista"

Lol

Thanks! I will wait for one more pic of it colored up before spending the big money. It looked pretty good for a right after acclimation picture but pretty light colored. If it does not have a little green in it I may opt. for a Koloton inststead that does have some wicked green in it. But it was a bit more money and a bit bigger fish to start with.

She is a totally easygoing! A little aggression at feeding but that's pretty much it. You can tell she likes her food!

So I got a pic of the fish this morning... and I like it!
