Same thing up here, but with longnose also. Seems to be a good number of people after small shortnose gar, though I can only catch large shortnose.

I catch them all of the time right at sunset while bass fishing. Most lakes have them here in Northern Indiana as well as my pond. I also have a decent amount of spotted gars.

Do you SOIL boys know any spots down there for spotted gar?

There was a guy on the SI Fish Room group that was selling some gar and I'm pretty sure he had some spotted gar as well. I'm not sure exactly where he got them from but I think he lives near Mt. Vernon somewhere.

I caught mine at a small lake near a golf course. I know they are in most of the lakes, but up until today I've been looking for them in all the wrong spots.

Yes I did. He's now in a 75 gallon with two green sunfish. One is a tad larger than him and one a couple inches smaller.
