Looking to breed 'easy' fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say african cichlids of one variety or another. Nearly all are easy to keep and at least in my area it is very hard to find anything but the very common labs, peacocks, blue johanni, zebra, etc.

I easily am able to sell or get credit at lf stores for christmas fulu, placidochromis phenochilus, red empress, etc.

One thing to keep in mind is what juveniles look like. Often the LFS is not going to be too interested in paying for something very drab and dull looking even though it may be beautiful in 3 to 6 months. Or with something like one of my favorites the placidochrimis phenochilus the females for the most part are always very dull colored. If you go with something like that you have to be prepared to grow them out a bit to get some color or in the case of dull colored females knowing they are harder to sell or demand much less money.

I breed Christmas Fulus (Haplochromis Xystichriomis) for feeders. The females pop out 50-70 fry every 1.5-2 months or so.

Feeders! Id love to have me some of those!:naughty:

I'll set some of my current batch aside. When they grow out some I'll put something up in the marketplace since there's such demand :)

Plecos and Angelfish. Most fish stores sell these in quantity and are always looking for quality fish.
