Looking to buy a RTC, some question first

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
a rtc is a life long adventure they have been known to live for more then 50 years. my rtc is over 30" and about 18-20lbs. i had to move him this year along with all my 1000,s of gals.(multiple set-ups). make sure you are ready to go the distance before you buy a red tail cat. with all that said ,a rtc is a very impressive fish to own.

I wouldnt even think about getting a rtc until your pond is finished or really close to,then get your fish grow it out in your 90 and have the pond waiting

:iagree: i grew one from 1.5" to over 12" in about 3 months...i think if you stare hard enough you can see them growing

1 yr old this month, 20" in size. only in 400gals and don't plan on moving him for atleast 3 or 4 years. with the slower growth rate after 24" anyway. we'll see

goodluck, awesome fish. i would recommend one but not for such a small tank. less then 6 months tops of growing out and jus be ready for a fish that can eat any other fish u buy

We've got lil' RTCs in at work, everyday I come home and read this forum and stop myself from buying one lol.
