The time has come to buy a canister filter. I had no idea there were so many out there!!!! I have them narrowed down (mostly because of prices) and would like input on which one ya'll know is the best. Thanks!!!

And the nominees are:

Cascade Canister Filter 1000

Magnum 350 Canister Filter

Reaction 4-Stage Canister Filters with UV

I was told that SunSun Canister Filters are good and they are also cheap (found some for like $45)

Any help would so be appreciated!!!!

what is your budget? you can buy a used fx5 from infinite aquatics here on mfk for about 130 US, pm them for info... but if not i agree with fishbum, save for an eheim... also consider the xp3, or eheim classic, good canisters for a low price ;)

I have never heard a bad thing about XP3's.They are also fairly affordable.
The cheapest place to buy most canister is here,
http://www.kensfish.com/
But Dr's. Foster&Smith has a coupon code you can use to get Eheim's and Rena filters at a good price right now too.
What size tank are you using it on? What is the stock?

i am using an xp4 and it is doing a great job on my 150

I want to get one for my 75 that houses, for right now, 3 turtles, 2 plecos, and about 6 goldfish. Budget ain't huge but $150 or less. If I can find a good one on amazon for cheap I will be happy.

There is a code you can use at fosters and smith. On their home page,at the top, in the right hand corner, you can click on "catalog quick order". Enter in CK for the prefix then item # 907364 and that will get you a XP3 for $110 dollars (I think that is what it is discounted too). I looked into a turtle tank at one time and it seemed from the turtle forums I went to the majority of the people used XP3's.

FX5 would be a good option, can highly recommend! I think ebay should see you picking up a cheap one. I got mine for about £120 so roughly $170-180 USD. Maybe a little over your budget but in the long run worth saving the extra for. I opted for 2 x Tetratec EX1200's and they kept getting blocked, eventually ditched them for the Fx5 which is a beast.

I like my Eheim classics; maybe it's because they are so simple to use, or so trouble-free, but whatever it is, I have found them to be very reliable and worth the money . . .
