Looking to do one filter for my 55 any options?

Don't get me wrong the two ac 70 do the job real good but I wanted a cleaner look in my tank and have one intake tube instead of two but that can do what my two ac do. And be able to have the tank sit closer to the wall. I'm gonna look into the sun canister. I had my eyes on the fluval 406 or the ml c530. Anybody had experience with the two I mentioned? And for the fluval fx5 it's massive and be mega overkill lol maybe if I had African cichlids

I run a 405 on a 55 and it definitely does the job

I have heard pretty terrible reviews of any fluval canister that is not the FX5. Yeah, there have been good ones, but most of what I've read has been negative, they just appear to not last well.

I wouldn't do just one filter. If one died, you'd be screwed. I would look to doing 2 canisters if you are looking to move the tank closer to the wall. Rena XP series and eheim classics seem to be the bulletproof ones.

This tank will be severely overstocked when the fish are full, or even half, grown. Not just bioload wise, but territorially. That means in 3-4 months, you are going to have a volatile mix of fish. Good luck.

I use one of the Sunsun (or rather Aquatop) filters and I'm surprisingly happy with it. Got the CF400 for my 55 gallon. I really like the fact that its got the built in UV light. I also move the water with an Aquatop IPF-305 internal filter. Thus far, the water remains crystal clear.

I have the same filter on my 46 g and it works great. Only thing is that you need to replace the filter pads with some higher quality cloth after about 2 months. I have their cf500 and I am happy with that as well

I run two 70 ACs each end of my 55 and water is always crystal clear, one has just biomedia the other has sponges and polyfilter or chemipure changed out every three months ,water is always clean and clear w good circulation.
