im looking to get a tank.

with that Begin said i used to have a biocube 29. loved the tank but due to college had to sell it. as I'm finishing college in a month i would like to get another one.

I'm not sure what to get. HQI, LED, or like a 108w or 144w system with an extra stock light or 2.

I'm looking at either a 14 gallon or a 29 gallon. if i got a HQI modded canopy I'd be scared of temps rising to unsafe levels. would i need a chiller? if so what are good brands? if i got LED lighting would that affect temps? I'm mainly speaking of the 5.6 led retro kit from nano customs.

Or maybe a Biocube 29 with HQI lighting. has the 150w hqi light, 14,00k, double ended halide. seems as its a kit straight from Oceanic. has anyone used this?

please help me select a tank. I love coral such as mushrooms, Zoas, some SPS and ETC.

Please MFK help me choose a tank

thanks

I have the new oceanic 29 HQI set up at my shop. It runs good and the corals seem to do well in the tank. Only thing I would do is change out the 14K with a 20K. 14K is to white for me. Honestly it will depend on what corals you want to keep. 90% of the corals do not need MH to look good.

would the new biocube HQI tank help tho, they may not need it but would it help? and what limitations would i have on coral light wise? also i would probly deffently get something more blue, i like how the stock lights look on the biocube with the blue tint to the lighting. and with the new HQI biocube foes it still have the LED's moonglo for night time? i also loved that in my old bio cube,

also how are the temps with the biocube hqi? would i need a chiller or are the temps lower seeing theres no cover?

i just would like a tank with corals that thrive not just like, i keps simple corals in my old stock BC29, i mean they lived some thrived, but i want all thriving corals.

is there any way you can post pics of the the tank in your shop?

thank you for the help N-E Cichlids

Go talk to Jay @ Jay's Aquatics in Salem.

He has the 29G HQI system for $499 new, he speaks very highly of the system. In fact everyone I have asked about it says it's right on.

is that the huge petstore in salem? did they change their name?? someone else from NH,COOL!!

are these biocube HQI's like brand new? i cannot find any pics online of them :(

No it's not Sea World, Jay's is saltwater only and he has everything SW including some awesome livestock. Jay's is the premier store in southern NH, pretty much the only real SW store in NH except from Aqua Addicts, also in Salem, but they are still kinda growing. Both are worth checking out. I might suggest Boston Reefers as a good resource as well:

The HQI is fairly new but has been very well received among the reefing community. I am trying to trade or sell my 75G (hint hint) to get one since my house is tiny and a 4' tank just occupies too much room.

i woud totally buy that tank from you if i wasnt still with my rents. once i move i move outta here after college n get a real job i'll be lookin for a large tank :)

i might head down to salem to Jay's Aquatics tommrrow after class, is he on the internet? also how far from concord is it?
