Hence "Freshwater stonefish" :D

for your information its common name seems to be Grunting Toadfish.
It makes a grunting noise when you try to catch it with your net. It did it last night as I tried to, freaked me out!

I catch them all the time by my house. They seem to like brackish water the best. I think they are born in brackish then move to salt because i see only little ones 1"-5". I caught one and had it in a salt 55 gallon for a while. They grow extremely fast and eat fish as big as them. I put 15 3" greenbacks in the tank one night and when i woke up there was only 1 swimming. They are beasts.

Toadfish 4 sure... No biggie... Just don't catch them with your hand or try to hand feed him.. And in case he die, don't touch him for the first two hours (with your hand)... Bottom line, use a net

when we go fishing we catch them all the time in brackish water and we call them dog fish because when u catch them and pull them out the water they start to cry like a little puppy some people say bark we never touch them tho some say poison they will eat anything squid shrimp shiners silversides bread what ever so feeding him shouldnt be hard

It does look like a toadfish but I'm not an ichtyologist.

If you ask me, it looks more like a gremlin fish from the movie Gremlins.
