I called today to up my amount of coverage and according to my (renters) insurance company claims department my tanks are not covered even though they said it was when I set up the policy, which was the only reason I set it up to begin with. I'm so pissed right now, all this money was wasted for nothing.
Looks like I'll probably be taking down my tanks

Not sure I'll try to find someone local to take him if possible or maybe talk to a LFS and see if I can work something out with shipping if I can find somebody on here thats interested.
You should fight it. They basically lied to you to get you to buy the policy. There are laws against that. If they sold you a policy that covers fish tanks, then they NEED to cover the tanks. If they are changing their story now, you should threaten legal action.

You would be suprised by how they would react when you merely threaten such a thing. I'm not saying that you need to take it all the way to court. I think if you called them up and talked in a stern voice, you would at least get a refund. Is your car insured through then too? Are they willing to lose you as a customer completely? They will do what is in their best intrest, and that is to keep you happy. If they don't, it will be a bigger loss to them. Also, just because they are a big corporation dosen't mean their word is any better than yours.
