Looks like I've been pretty wrong about what's a harmless fast for a fish?

Absolutely healthy, in a natural environment. Feast or famine is part of the natural life cycle for many fish. In an aquarium setting, well let's just say that I haven't seen too many fish die from starvation. lol On the other hand, fatty infiltration of the liver has been designated the most common metabolic disturbance and most frequent cause of death in aquarium fish. Interesting indeed. I've got a really old Indo Datnoid that's around 22". It goes on food breaks for months at a time. I can remember one spell where it didn't eat for around 4-5 months. At this point I don't worry about it anymore when it doesn't eat.

This video changes what I thought I knew, that fasts were normal and okay for most fish especially if they are predators.
