Just because they look good doesnt mean they are healthy. The small filter cannot control all of those fish's waste. Also, the tank is too small and the fish dont have much room to grow. Not Healthy IMO.

why do you change the media? The bacteria in the media is what cleans the tank water, keep the media in.

Don't change to foam either. Just clean it in tank water. You only need to change it about once every 2-3 months. Depends on how it looks.

I always drain tank water into a bucket, clean. Then dump water and fill bucket then rinse again... just to be sure... works nice...

Hikari's great for SA cichlids, and even though those formulas are supposed to be for Africans, I would get them on Dainichi instead. Otherwise, fear the bloat.
