sorry for not updating, been busy with work and i study part time, but heres the update so far.
miguel u r nearly right lol, growing them up there appetites are crazy feeding twice a day now and had to keep spreading them out to differnt tanks as they were growing i was finding i started losing some fry,i later found out that it was bigger fry trying to eat each other and in the process were choking on the there siblings. there very canabalistic.
feeding them currently on frozen bloodworm, chopped whitebait and hikari carnivore pellets. roughly have 200-250 fry between 1 inch to 3 inch.
really easy to raise just need good water quality, and originally i used microworm when they hatched until they were two weeks old then grindleworm and then started with crushed bloodworm and then finally pellets etc.
parents spawned in a 5.5 foot by 2.5 foot wide by 2 foot high tank, bare bottom as the tank they were in was only really for use as a sump, but this didnt seem to bother them as they spawned twice. ph 6.5 temp 25C, water quality i.e. nh4 = 0 , no2 = 0 , no3 = trace. they were getting 30% water changes on the system they were on (system total of 2500 litres ish) weekly. parents were fed whitebait, sole fillets, prawns and mussels.
how it came to happen:
i bought one of the parents and then happend to look after my friends fish as he was moving house and just so happened to have another adult lophio, so i tried them togther and they didnt do much for a while just sat at either ends of the tank no aggression at all. then one day started 'shivering' above each other they did this for a week or two before the first spawn, then ever since then they stay together in the tank they are now housed tending to lay next to each other.
got loads of character as you can hand feed them
