anybody else feeling this way?- mainly want opinions from older guys.

i have no desire to keep on with most of my hobby's. i feel to old to play around with cars and have no desire to build or buy more. same with aquariums and fish. i feel like downgradeing to like 1-2 tank(s). i have no time for hobby's i used to love so much aswell. anybody?

I got that feeling from cars, I was all about them and everything. Then I took auto for two years and all of a sudden they werent what they used to be, I still like them but am tired of working on them (yet I'll still do it). I don't know how mechanics do it daily though, esp. with the engine bay packed like a sardine can now a days where you have to remove lots of parts just to access the problematic others. I guess you just have to really love your job/hobby when it comes down to it, otherwise you can still do it but the newness/fun is no longer there.
With fish, when I first started this hobby when I was 10, it was I would buy something just if it was a good price, to the point where I had to much and didn't enjoy what I had. Now 10 years later, that has slowed down and I'm trying to specialize things up. Change is good, and it keeps me interested. I find it better to keep less and know exactly what I'm doing, then keep more without knowing much about how to care for them.

I side with your parents lol. Once I get a fish best to plan to keep it its whole life best you can.

I have common zebra danios in planted 55 gallon so old that they have hunched backs and I think some have what could be cataracts .

MAn, it gets like that for any hobby. You might just need to take an extended break, and downgrade to 1 or 2 tanks that can be easily maintained. After a while you will miss the hobby you truly love and get back into it. It just takes time and maybe some focus towards something else to make you miss it. Don't visit a lfs for awhile, then you will find that when you go into one, it will spark that interest. Sometimes you find that you might have too much stuff for your hobby, then it becomes work. Take a break, things will be great again!!!

That's pretty much what I do.

If your bored your bored no sense trying to change things. I liked fish when I lived in NY but the cold and "gloomy" long winter months with lack of sun kept me with 2 tanks.
Once i moved to Miami where you can keep fish outside all yr long or my patio (do use heater as some nights drop below 70 infact even 50s) I got very interested again.

However why force it if you want to cut back than cut back .

Nothing worth doing is fun 24/7. I've been in the hobby for over 30 years. You need to pace yourself.
