losing interest,what to keep in a 250?!?

So I have had my 250 for a bit over a year now and in that time it has gone from and African cichlid tank to a SA cichlid tank to a "pure monster" tank and now its a "semi aggressive/mostly laid back" tank.

-the Africans were fun but got columnaris and wiped out about $500 worth of peacocks.

-the SA were really fun for awhile till they reached sexual maturity and started to beat each others ass on a regular basis.(oscar,jag,GT,JD,pike,festae,etc.)

-the monster tank was fun but they quickly got to the size that they were eating more than $50 of food a month and a water change 2-3 times a week, not to mention the night time aggression I couldn't find a culprit for.....I couldnt keep up with all that then and still may not be able to keep up with all that.(clown knives,arowana,P.bass,Giant gourami,tinfoil barbs,bichers)

-the tank I have now is kinda boring in all honesty it needs something to liven it up but I'm not sure what.It is mainly a datnoid tank, as those are the only free swimming fish in the tank at the moment.I also have a juruense,a 12" BGK and some large clown loaches .

I am probably going to try to sell the dats for a few reasons but I'm not sure what else to put in there that I am hopefully not going to get bored with in a few months or have other issues with.

I would like to keep the CL's (about 5-6") the juruense (10") and the BGK (12") unless they just make the list of possible tankmates too narrow...

Any tips or suggestions would be great,thanks in advance

why not just make it one hell of a community tank with every damn thing u could fit into it (not real helpful but there is so many things its open to intrepretation)

I agree you should get some rays if they are legal where you live.

I would put a Tigrinus in there they always keep me interested.

kinda what I tried to do in the past,usually just leads to trouble,and I have to be careful as loaches have super slow growth rate.

rays are a no-go here but so many MFKers in my state are very open about their having rays that I'll be honest and admit that rays are a no go simply because I don't have the hook up.

what else could go in with loaches juru and BGK that doesn't overly harass tankmates or grow too big too fast?

I want pbass,they aren't too aggro, but then you have growth rate....same with bichirs that catch my interest,endli or ornate.I was told I would have to wait awhile before I could put one of those in.......I'm just having a real hard time thinking of something besides rays that fits perfectly.

If the CL's and the BGK are going to make tankmate selection too much of a pain I suppose they could be sold but I like em alot.The juru has to stay though,he my fav.

If I can't come up with anything that catches my interest I will probably sell my tank.....can't keep it around for only one juru.

I like discus but I also kinda wanted to stay monster....still its an idea and will be considered.

the discus won't get freaked by the aro or catfish?
