Today was water change day. Went thru the routine. Didn’t realize my son was playing with the temps. Stepped away to do some other stuff in the home. When i got back and checked the water it was at 69degrees. It was a rapid cool down.

After numerous water changes with hot water got the temps up to 78 degrees. Unfortunately lost some fish.

Lost my 8-9in p polli, 10in moke, 10-11in weeksii and cb Senegalus 6inches (forever at this size) and lost both kryptopterus cheveyi. Other fish pulled through. Other polys seem to be ok but will see by morning. All the polys lost so far were grown from 4in or so from wetspot and ADC.

Part of being hobbyist and having kids. Glad my son didn’t get burned. More important. Oh well! Thought I’d share.

So sorry to hear this but happy to hear your son didn't get hurt.

How did the fish die? I do waterchanges straight out the hose my tank temperature after a waterchange is sub 50 and it'll take about 3-5 hours to warm it back up. I've never lost a fish in over 10 years. I keep sensitive fishes ie Discus and stingrays

So sorry for you. Some very good fish you lost. Accidents do happen and I am sure in time you will replace them with equally great fish.
Thank you. That’s the plan but gonna wait a while.

Not too sure but it may have been colder as my temps were dropping. I have a Lcd temp monitor and it’s off. Only thing I can assume. Didn’t get to test water as everything happened quickly.
