IN MY TANK
Hi

I lost all my baby polys, and i dont no what was wrong with them:confused:, three of my tank got infected with some bacteria(i Think) . The polys looked like there blood vessel burst, some of them were floating in the begin , i thought it was some gas. They were also bloated. Any idea what it was, i didn't take any pics of the dead fish as i am still upset about the lost.::cry::cry
Dead poly's
02albino sen
02 ornates( which i grew up from 07cms to 25cms which cant be replaced as there are not common, was looking for them for 6months)
06endi's(can get more of them as i will do in the future.
How do i stop this bacteria/infection , i am planing to drain all three tanks and wash out everything then leave them to dry out completely. Is this the right plan of action?

Update on current poly collection.
06endi's (23cms to 30cms)
03 bichir bichir
02 sen
01 albino sen

these fish are in my 280gallon currently.

Thank you in advance for the advice

sorri for the loss,
the easiest way is to re start the tank, just like u mentioned.
Wash it then leave it to dry under the sun, or maybe use chlorine to kill the bacteria. Dunno wot else, but its wot I would do.

Red streaks is usually a sign of septemicia. Do you have Jungle Lab Parasite Clear meds? Half dose and salt is good for treat bichirs. Bacteria will stay present in the aquarium and you cannot completely get rid of them. It's like bacteria is in our air and doesn't hurt us until our immune weaken. Keep your water clean, wash your filters, always quarantine new fish with treatment of Parasite Clear, and start over.

Firstly thank you

I have not seen any parasite clear meds, will contact Jungle labs and request contact detail for there dealer on my side. Septemicia from what you say seems to be like white spot which is alway in the tank waiting for some thing to go wrong with fishes immune system to act. Will restart the tanks,

i have one more question

can i dry the bio-med and re use it?

what are Bio Meds? Do you mean can you dry the bio media and reuse it? You can do that but that take longer for bio to establish in your media.

I have only use API and Jungle Lab brand with bichirs with a lot of success. I preferred to use Jungle Lab since it's a lot cheaper. Jungle Lab is $4 a box compared to API at $15 a box. NEVER go full dose on the instruction. Always go with half dose as stated in the instructions and you'll be fine. Septemicia is usually red streaks. White spots on the fish is usually baterial infections. Salt and fungus clear works great.

Do you have Walmart over there? They carry Jungle Lab meds. Jungle Parasite Clear and Jungle Lab Fungus Clear will cover a wide parameters of different diseases.

My Endli had red streaks and some salt cured it up (King El's suggestion ) However since yours are past that I would definitely head on to the Jungle labs parasite clear as mentioned. Should it happen again.

Few questions
What were you feeding them ?
What were the parameters around the time they all died ?
? Do you have gravel or sand ?

Do you have gravel in the tank? If so they may have eaten it and had impaction and then internal bleeding that is why I left Gravel for any Bichir inhabited tank
Thank you
