lost 3 fish in 4 days :( help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you have salt in the water? If not I would use aquarium salt 1 tablespoon per five gallons. Remember to replace per water change. Salt will not evaporate but will be removed with water during a water change. Keep up on those water changes they can do miracles. Your stock list isn't very good either. You have fish that get huge mixed with fish that stay small. Research not trying to bust your !@@##$ but only trying to help.

Silver Aro will grow to eat everything it catches. Silvers can get rather huge.

Until we know more about your tank and your water parameters, we are just trying to grab things in the dark with only one chop stick.

Please check your water parameters, we need to know your ammonia, nitrites, and then your nitrates.

How long have your had this tank up and running?

Don't add salt without knowing what your are treating first. Salt is great when used for what its needed, (once you know what's wrong). Its not supposed to constantly be in the water either.

omg why dont people do research before they buy stuff?

I just noticed you have an arowana ... i fish i actually care about someone killing out of ignorance.....

1. GO TO THE PET STORE TODAY AND GET WATER TESTED NOT TOMORROW
2.DONT LISTEN TO THE DUMBASS AT THE STORE TELL THEM RIGHT DOWN TEST RESULTS AND TELL US
3.LISTEN AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS SWIFTLY AND CAREFULLY

lol :D

but seriously...

Got my water tested today... ph was high but owner of pet store said that was common for this area, and the nitrates were high. I did a 40-45% water change today, and plan on doing another one sunday

wow out of all those replies only 2 were partially helpfull...
yea man just stick to doing some water changes,
after your 40% do a 25% change every day or every other day just make sure ur moving alot of water..u shouldnt do 2 much at once because if the fish is sick u just might stress it enough to put it over the edge...also make sure u add stresszyme or tetra safe something of that nature cuz it really helps in stressful situations....
watch its scales closely for the next cpl days to make sure its not a fungus or a parasite,
also the ph shouldnt matter to much considering if u got them from an lfs in ur county with the same water...fish adapt...
and on the other hand...an aro would have eventually ate those fish...
and corydoras have nasty spines, and if ur aro ever decided to go to the bottom for a snack, the cory could very likely get stuck in his mouth and sufforcate him because of there rigid pectoral and dorsal spines...

and what have u been feeding them?

Just ignore the people not being helpful. Everyone makes mistakes and you will learn from them, Just make sure to do those water changes. Also you said something about white hair on your knife before it died? May have been fungus, i had 2 pickerel before that had fungus problems.
