lost a dat this morning :(

not sure exactly what happened. all i know is i got 2 new pbass, tried to grow them out with my dats since they all eat the same thing. 2 bass got ich, so i treated the tank with rid ich for a few days, did a wc then added salt. later did another wc, after a while i noticed 1 of my 2 dats breathing funny and always near the top of the water. breathing heavily and wasn't really eating anymore. then i woke up this morning to a dead dat on the bottom

so im still growing 1 and he's about 2.5" and doing awesome. but this sux

Sorry to hear that ethnics. I was reading a thread yesterday where someone mentioned as soon as the rapid/irregular breathing starts with dats, it's pretty much over. That sucks...at least you didn't lose them both.

Dang man sorry for your loss; dats I found to be an extremely hardy fish but a lil fragile when juves I guess.. Kinda the reason why I dont buy them that small anymore.....and the fact that it take a while for them to get to a good size.

yah, i think this last small one i have will be the last i buy at this size. he has grown a ton but its takin a long time and seems risky every day i see him. big dats are expensive as hell tho

No kidding. I bought my guys at 1" because there was no way I could afford a group of adult dats. I would have to decide which I wanted to pay for....dats or shelter.

Dam bro that sucks....just lost one of my thin bars this morning and the other one is acting the same way...breathing hard and not eating....all other fish are doing great...dont think its gonna make it sorry again for your loss...
