Lost my bowfin had it 8 years

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll be able to try again, be able to feed a more varied diet, and have that fish live even longer.

Why do you think krill was its demise? High thiaminase?

What was the initial size and final size?

Any photos would be appreciated.

...

Did he have seasonal temperature changes?

Do you think it is important? Ours came from Everglades.

...

We've lost our 8-10 year old, 21 inch to an unknown pathogen: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/...gorge-on-borderline-rotten-fish.675898/page-3

"Lost the second bowfin. From 15" in Apr 2017 to 21" in May 2021. Final measure.

Females appear to live the longest (30 years) and grow the biggest 100-110 cm / 3.5 feet.

I assume our little guy at 8-10 yo could have been a male.

Cause of death uncertain. Slowed and stopped feeding for a few months before perishing overnight. IDK, could be natural but the life span seems like may be too short for it. "
