So sorry about your hen. I’d be sad too. Losing pets always hits hard no matter what they are.
The little ones are so cute.

No. He wasn't actaully after her. He wanted the babies but she covered them just in time and I ran up so he took off. I dont want to hear some one refer to a coward as "chicken". This isnt the first time I've seen such a brave act from these birds.Sorry to hear about Margaret. Did the hawk manage to carry her off?

I watched a bantam (sp?) hen stand off with a dalmatian one day. The hen barely even came up to the dogs knees but she was standing her ground! I agree with you that "chicken" is the wrong term for a coward as I've also seen some very brave acts from these birds.I dont want to hear some one refer to a coward as "chicken". When I was a kid, my grandfather had a rooster that would beat the piss out of any dog that got too close to his hens. Ever seen an 8 pound chicken send a 50 pound coon hound running with its tail between its legs? lol He killed snakes, chased cats...that rooster was a warrior and my grandfather lost very few hens and chicks as long as that one was alive. Always respect the chicken lolI watched a bantam (sp?) hen stand off with a dalmatian one day. The hen barely even came up to the dogs knees but she was standing her ground! Also, the little ones are adorable! Growing so quickly!![]()

They're definitely not fluff balls anymore!Kittiee Katt pretty sure that red one is a partridge rock. They are hardly little balls of fluff now huh?View attachment 1373417
I've got some more little ones now. Just hatched yesterday. Sorry about the photobombing fish. I was trying to use the aquarium light for the pic but she wouldn't stay out of the frame.

Lol not all of them can be lap chickens. Some like people tho. Emma is especially fond of one of Margret's chicks. She sneaks her into the living room and they watch TV and share snacks. They're definitely not fluff balls anymore!
The new little one is cute though. My aunt has silkys and my new boyfriend loves them, there's one tannish coloured young one that he absolutely adores and has been trying to pat for the last week or so without any success.![]()
