I woke up this morning and he was swimming kinda like he was walking with tail down. I did a water change the night before and went to petsmart and got crickets for the first time and also feeders which they sometimes eat also. Anyhow, my question is do you think it was something with the crickets, because when I put those in first, the Jar was eating a bunch of them, but my silver would hit a couple and spit them back out immediately. So, my silver is completely fine but he didn't eat any of the crickets and now the Jar is dead. For the record, this is my second Jar that died on me, the first one was about 10 inches and committed suicide by jumping out.

sorry for ur loss

For sure that the silver aro is not the cause of death. Maybe he experienced some problems with his stomach when he ate a bunch of those crickets, or hit something hard. Sorry for you lost.

may the feeder was infected? did you cut off the back legs of the cricket? the leg can puncture the arowanas stomach

I heard that crickiets are not good for Arowana. Aro loves crickiets but I read couple times that after feeding crickiets next day Arowana was found dead.

I'm sorry for yor loss.

Arowanas eat insects in nature. To say crickets are not good is ironic and needs to be elaborated what makes them bad for arowanas. Frankly, I do not find anything wrong with feeding the arowanas with crickets which I did myself before unless something has been done to the insects/baits that compromised the life of the fish.

Blazin, I would question your store where exactly did they get the crickets. My first thought on your first post is they might be contaminated by pesticides. What are your water parameters?
