:( :( My poor L200 died today, i did a waterchange and he got spooked and hid behind some rocks i didnt find him until i noticed we wasnt upfront in his normal spot chillin and finally found him dead behind the rocks. Fancy plecos are pretty rare around here and when i saw him i had to have him and i got him for only 20 bucks and he was about 3 inches then, hes about 4 now.

Wyldfya since u are breeding them if u are successful you should definitly ship me a couple. These are definitly some neat plecos.

Thats a great price! Sorry for your loss!

Your L200 in the picture looks a little thin. L200s can die for no reason, but LARGE water changes are often a culprit in this. I would recommend several smaller wc every week rather than one large one.

it was about 10 8-10 gal out of my 48 gal tank, think that did it? And yes he was a bit skinny that was when i first got him, he was much plumper yesterday

well, there is always a reason. like many plecs, they can be sensitive when young and do not react well to sharp changes in water quality and temps. although i wouldnt say yours was a particularly large water change

No, that shouldn't be the cause. What were the parameters of the tank?

I find this species likes to come in thin from wholesalers, more so than other species of pleco.

thats not by any means a large change. however not knowing what the temp and other water quality measures, you won't necessarily know, but there could have been something wrong with the water.

Then again, it can also just be another random death. Were there any recently added tankmates, particularly other cats, and even more precisely plecos?

parameters were fine, close to perfect. i think it was just a random death he did wedge himself behind that rock though i think that was it.
