Sorry about your loss. Especially a rapps male that you've had so long.. that is suprising a smaller female green terror took him out.. cichlidconnection has grammodes at the momment. I've been looking into getting more to grow out since I found out I have a female.

I actually found a male who is around 5-6 inches I can get for $40. So all I will need to do is get a female. Just be careful because the males are known to kill the female which is why I am able to get this male. I actually liked the female I used to have a little more than the male I had. How long have you had your female? The males will be covered in red spots so they are pretty easy to tell when they are young.

She is probably about 3.5-4 inches. I've had her maybe 7 months? What size do males normally show spots? I tried to get my lfs to order another two for me around the same time but they couldn't get anymore in for me. Frustrated causeI wanted a male, I recently ordered a 3 inch istlanum 'red' male... my grammode is showing some nice colot though so I have been looking into gettimg a male so I can try to breed them.

The smallest group I've gotten in was around 2-2.5 inches and I was able to tell at that size. I know I've seen Rapps have them in stock from time to time but I also have a very good fish store in my area that helps me get fish.

Sorry for the loss, but I would not be so quick to put the blame on the GT. Sounds more like your Grammode stressed out and died from the move. 2 days is not much time to acclimate, but it is certainly possible your GT killed him, but having Grammodes before and like most other people are saying, Grammode do extremely well with holding their own with larger or smaller fish. Usually a very hardy fish to kill so that is the only reason I am skeptical it was the GT.

Very true, it could have been stress, or stress made the grammode susceptible to bullying and the gt capitalized on the opportunity. Either way bummer and hard to see it coming

I have a large F1 female I'm problem gonna sell to free up some space. Too bad ur in Ohio.

I think stress might have played a role. I did only move him over a tank that needed freed up so water conditions were the same. But I now have a clue what played a big role into it. I noticed the female had been going after him a little but my small 4 inch FTM and 6 inch Lyonsi kept breaking them up. The light in the basement was left on that night (This was after I shut everything down and turned it all off) so the fish did not really get to rest. It is something that will not happen again.
