So not even 1 year old and i somehow lost my pair, male died over night was fine one night and wen i woke up the next morning he was gone, female was struggling and as time went on she just got worse untill now and she has passed

Now im not exactly sure wot killed them i was worried bout my nitrates possibly being to high but im leaning towards some kind of infection as it really shows on the female.

I am so devastated that this happened and i feel really bad that the female had so many sores and was bleeding etc but i did everything i could in the time i had to try save them and it wasnt enough

Check your Ph, though it may be showing ok now anyway if you have done a water change. Many people dismiss this when in actual fact Ph crash is one of the biggest killers of fresh water rays.

Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for the loss. I know what it feels like to lose a ray - sickening feeling. Are rays hard to come by in Australia?

thanx guys nothing can do now but chin up and move on, certain species are very hard to come but motoro the easiest and cheapest averaging 500 a pup, there are some p13, p14 black pups at the moment here well out of my price range up at $10,000 each all other species in between those prices

Mate that really sucks. Looks like they went through some stress before depating which must have been a deperate time for you to go through. Sorry you could not save them. Really scary when all your water perams are good but our fish are not. Don't let it put you off. Maybe a complete strip of your tank and start again?

Hi Richard. Interesting to note your comments about PH crash. I asked about this on a seperate thread and got conflictiing answers. Still makes me wonder if there is anything in particular we should be doing in our tanks to stop possible PH crashes?
