lost one of my TAT's in stranger circumstances

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well guys, the last 2 of 12 tats have died under similar circumstances. other 3 scombs 8-9inch and ralf 12inch are fine. glad to be tat-free!

i would vote parasite

ive had payara come in and show no signs of parasites until they got healthy

also parasites r very easy to get through feeders.

Would you recommend Prazi after breaking them then?

Almost every Characin I've watched die exhibit this same behavior. I have an Odoe doing it right now, and I'm pretty sure it's from smashing itself into things. Just couldn't cope with the high activity level of Dorado.

your dorado might not be able to cope w the dorado...

ive never had this problem of characins dying but i havent rely owned that many... i also prazi every fish that comes into my house

I would bet on a parasite as well.

I do yearly parasite treatments on all of my pred tanks. And the feeder tank gets a treatment monthly with every new batch of fat heads.

As I only feed live to my characin preds.

I use jungle labs parasite clear. It contains prazi as well as a few other parasite meds.

I have had no problems using it on
scombs
Tat's
many different Ace cuda's
hujeta's
sa needles
charax gibby's

By the way MAD NESS where the hell have you been at?

Dorado love eachother....

I even had my big one in solitary for over 2 weeks, tossed in 2 smaller ones after the Odoe smashed itself and off to the races they were... They are seriously like a group of cats playing together, bumping, racing, indian swimming together. Been 4 days now and NO tattered fins or missing scales. You never see more than 10 inches of water between the trio. Always swimming together.

Guess I need to invest in a case of Prazi.... Don't want anything to happen to my new lil pride and joys.....:nilly:

 i dont think its gonna work, u better split up those dorado:ROFL:

parasites... do these make the fish flighty? ive seen mine bash themselves first hand more times than i care to count. none of the other fish display this behavior and the tats were collected in 3 different time periods, from 2 different locations. if they got it from the feeders, i think the others would be having issues as well no?

switched gears for a bit, was on car forums, got to change it up everynow and then...

Flighty yes very much so.

The example a guy gave to me was being out in the woods and feeling a giant bug crawling up your back. He said how fast would you move to see what the hell it was. lol

can you imagine the feeling of having something moving around inside of you?

I have noticed that when i had my mini shoal that they would generally get aggressive with each other and do lots of jaw flapping and flighty swimming. And a parasite treatment stopped that behaviour.

But I never once seen a parasite on them. Or the normal parasite POO.
