I would expect a slow growth. I have 2 that are 5" and i got them at 4" about 6 months ago. Then again I also had one that was 7" and it was 3" when i got it 6 months prior. It really depends. You never know. They sometimes go through spurts like mentioned only to not grow for months at a time.
Definiitely try and get a small group if you can or non-aggressive tankmates. The more the merrier. I have a dozen or so eartheaters in one tank and they are very active/friendly.
