So I just set up my wet/dry and its extremely loud. I already have a Durso standpipe in the overflow, but its still really annoying. It also periodically "slurps" like its sucking a lot of air all of a sudden.

I'm running an Amiracle sump and overflow (1" lines and a DIY durso) with a Rio 2100 pumping the return, there is also a Magnum 350 running.

Anything else I can try to quiet it down?

Sorry, I don't know that much about sump systems. The noise is one of the reasons I prefer large canister systems. If set up and maintained properly I think they work as well as a sump. But others mileage may vary.

The only thing I can think of is changing the water level in the sump or flow rate to even it out and avoid the slurping.

Thanks and nice setup, for the money I couldn't pass up this wet/dry... Here's some pics if they help -

I was wondering if this could be the problem area?

See how the drain line has to loop down, then back up to empty into the sump, could that create the problem? Its that flexible hose stuff, would I be better off hard piping it?

Slurping sound is usually from the drain exit being to far below water level in sump causing back pressure that stops the air coming out, I just raised the drain level and put more coarse foam underneath it ..

hope that helps :)

Oh yeh, you may have to ajust the air hole at the top of the standpipe also or restrict flow into sum if that dosen't work

Sorry this is not a helpful response, but can I ask what's the benefit of the DIY Durso pipe versus just letting the water drain straight down and out the bulkhead? It seems like more work in comparison to just letting gravity drain the water out.

try putting a some sort of media in the pipe or tubbing that leads to the sump between the ovwerflow box.
this helps slow thw water down and not bubble so hard when water goes down the bubbles echoing is usually what makes the noise...i crammed bioballs in mine

there's somethign up with your setup. i just set up a Durso standpipe on my 150g and it is DEAD silent. its amazing how well these things work. it used to sound like a damn waterfall with a 30" drop to the bottom of the overflow
