Loud?

I have a 90g and the overflow / wetdry filter is really really loud. Is this the same for everyone elses overflow set up? The reason I am asking is becuase hopefully in the not too long future I am going to up grade to something around ~180 and I think I might look into canister filters for noise reasons. My 90g is in my parents house and if the basement door is open the noise carries pretty well. I am in an apartment now with three other people and I do not want to have a tank that will annoy everyone. Thanks in advance for letting me know how your tank sounds.

If theres alot of water dropping, you can place some foam or saran wrap to catch some falling water. In the sump I would raise the level of media.

if you have an hang on the back overflow I made a cover for mine and it really cut down on the noise.

are your overflows built in or hang on type? either way do a search for "durso stand pipe" they have plans for built in or hang on over flows, this hsould help a lot.

Yeah the durso stand pipe works great. cheap and simple to make.
