Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
I also like the personality of the pike cichlids. From the time they are little they are mister tough guy. This one even flairs at me unless she is getting fed.
I think they all have the split lateral line but am not sure. Someone like peanut_power could answer that.
As far as the camera I have a very nice camera. Canon 20D. A nice camera helps but it is still a person takeing the pictures. I fairly often attend a camera club meetings. A guy their has three point and shoot cameras. A cheap one that stays with him everywhere he goes up to a top end one. One guy has a $8000.00 1DS markII Canon several have 1DmarkII and 1DmarkIIN that sell for $ 4300.00. Very seldom can anybody turn in better pictures than the guy with the point and shoots. He has taken thousands of pictures with then and never stops trying to improve. I asked his if he was going to upgrade to a DSLR. He answered no I'm happy with these.
