Are there any types of pike that can be kept in a small group or even lone in tank with few polypterus species and some dithers?

Crenicichla probably won't be aggressive to polypterus and dithers, just as long as they can't eat them. I used to keep a 14" Johanna pike with a large ornate bichir, she never gave the bichir a second glance. They are mostly aggressive to other pikes.

Okay any recommendations on a larger pike for a 180 gallon tank I am trying to consider all my options because I'm trying to plan out my stocking to avoid the " I'll just buy every pretty fish I see" syndrome lol

Never heard of a larger pike not being aggressive. My Muskie has tried eating my channel cat that’s the same size of him. They can also be very territorial. Just keep other large fish with them and keep it well feed you should be okay.

Overall Crenicichla from the saxatilis family are less aggressive than the larger lugubris type.

Not as they only grow very big at least from what I’m seeing. I’d like it to grow to be at least 10”. I just want only 1-3 larger mid level fish in the tank I’m also looking at some vieja species as well but I’ve always wanted to keep a pike.

Also could one of you identify this pike it’s labeled as a lepidota but I don’t think so.
Looks more like a juvenile atabapo to me.
