I am going to be redoing one of my tanks soon and want to make it into a semi-planted tank. I am interested in plants that I can bury into my sand that will grow with a few hours of sunlight (or if my led lights will help they are on a few hours a day to), that don't require co2 dosing. I could dose with seachem flourish if I had to. I also want a few plants to attach to driftwood. Any input is appreciated, if this doesn't sound feasible I will go with some fake plants then.

Java fern can be attached to driftwood and only needs low light. I have the set up you want. Black sand, LED lights and it works great. I have Val and cobomba with java fern and moss on a piece of driftwood. I floating plant. I dose with excel, no co2. Currently trying out ludwigia and rotala too see if they stay, so far so good. Will post pics after

Thanks for your reply I will be housing a pair of Honduran red points and 8 swordtails. Is the tall grassy plant on the back left watersprite? Also what are the foreground plants on the left. I like swords and anubias but don't know how well they do planted in substrate.
