Low Maintenance Plants??

I read somewhere that they can alter the clarity of your water and turn it murky.

I have 2 hob penguin 400s. Will I be okay?
 
I guess to clarify my question, what kind of ferts would be best for gravel? I think I read that amazon swords require the nutrients to go straight to the roots. Am I right?

You should be fine with simple low light plants, root tabs under the substrate will be fine. For the sword, don't over bury the crown and for the anubias on't burry the rhizome.

Java fern of any variety is also a nice plant, and I've had luck with banana plants and any sort of tiger lotus or dwarf lilly as a low light plant.

Some simple stems like Ludwigia repens and Rotala rotundifolia will also work for you, most likely. And of course, a simple floating plant like duckweed will probably do okay, although tbh I've never tried to grow anything floating in a low light tank.

Thank you for the input. Ill do some research on the java fern. Yeah I have the swords crown above the substrate and the anubias' rhizome above the gravel.

So just one root tab per plant? Or one for the whole batch? I have about 5 swords and 2 anubias nana.

Depending on what root tab you are using, there should be one tab per about every 6" square. That will fertilize the gravel. Then I would also use flourish comprehensive to fertilize the water column. Some of your plants access nutrients from water column and some access it from the gravel.
