I just finished experimenting with high-end guppies. I did that for 4 years. Now I am working at a much smaller scale and only with a few strains. I am getting into angelfish and discus and may play around with that for a while. This was my fishroom in the back

On one side I had a recirculating system and in the other side I operated a system based on airlift filtration and plants (including green water). The recirculating system workerd great and it is cheap to build. Would work for producing other livebearers, anglefish fry, and for african cichlids.

Thanks for sharing:) thats awesome!!

also..welcome to MFK!

look good.. how big are the tubs?
how many you have hooked up, and how kind/big of a filter u use

nice!

I used 3 sizes of containers (rubbermaid - clear impressions). I had 16 - 5s, 16 - 3s and 24 - 1.5s.

For filtration I used a 5 gallon bucket with crushed lava rock. I had two pumps; one to run the system and one to run the biofilter. That way I could shut off the system without shutting off the filter.

For heating, I used a 200W heater in the sump (plastic bin). Because the fishroom was insulated, that was enough to keep the water at ~ 78-80 degrees, including the tanks that were not in the system were kept at a decent temp.
