Hi all,

I just set up my 600 and the waterline is too low, the canopy doesn't cover it, in fact it's off by 1-2" (2-3" below the bottom of the inside top acrylic). I take it the slits on my overflows are too low or perhaps too many.

Is there some sort of an easy way to increase the waterline?

Tank has 2 overflows, each are 12"x8".
Running 2 Mag 18's (each 1800GPH)
Keep in mind I also have a 3D background on it with slits cut on the overflows, I actually thought this would impede the flow but apparently it had absolutely no effect.
Here's a pic of the BG/overflows:

That's a bad idea to throttle back your overflow. It becomes much easier to clog up that way.

You could attach a piece of acrylic or plastic on the back side of the teeth to raise the water level.

That said, very cool background!

Same exact thing can be said about blocking teeth in your overflow and it's not permanent. At least with a valve you can open it and clear any obstruction. Been running tanks for years like this and never had a ball valve clog to the point of overflowing the tank. Just my 2 cents..

I'm barely getting into sumps so I can't help but it seems they already did. Good knowledge to know before I run into the problem myself. I really just wanted to comment on your background/overflows.very nice, very nice.

I totally agree with using a ball valve. It will allow much better control over the entire system. I've never used a sump system, but I did rebuild a lot of industrial paint and sand blasting equipment.
