I have posted about Otohime as a lower cost alternative feed in the past when folks were looking for ways to lower their food bill. Overall a decent farm feed, but it seems as though once you get past their 2mm pellet in size, the lower the quality in raw ingredients. This is the ingredient list for their 10 mm pellet. Fish Meal, Wheat Flour, Tapioca Starch, Corn Starch, Potato Starch, Fish Oil, Calcium Phosphate, Soy Meal, Wheat Germ.
I can't say that I can get too excited about feeding wheat, tapioca, corn, potato, soybean, and more wheat, to a food designed for fish, and certainly not for fish that are considered non herbivores. Like most Japanese based food, it seems to be designed more for Koi than anything else.
Overall when it comes to farm feed you tend to get what you pay for.
