will drift wood and/or indian almond leaves safely lower my tanks pH and keep it stable or should i just leave it all alone???

the tap waters pH 8.2ish
fish are datnoids and frontosas

If the water coming from your tapwater is 8.2, it will be impossible to lower the ph to below 7. There are too many things such as minerals in your water to adjust. The only way to lower the PH would be to use RO water. To set up an RO filter in your place would cost $300, cheapest. Unless your fish are showing stress (not eating, dull colors), I would not bother. I think a stable PH is more important than lowering your ph.

I agree, I believe a stable PH is better than trying to lower the PH and have it spiking left and right.
