I had my aro for about two years. Always been very skittish and i wake up middle of night because it would go crazy and make a lot of noise even with an led night light

Recently i lowered my water level three inches and what a complete change. It would be friendly and beg for food as i go near the tank. Before it would dart all over the tank and injure itself

Never seen the point in lowering water levels

I have seen so 300g tanks with only 150g of water what's the point in that the more water the better

In my experience with silver aro's most of them were easily spooked, and skittish especially while approaching the aquarium.

That's cause Asian aros are more chill with their owners as I'm sure you know. It's a gd nonpermanent way to deal with a South American gone temporarily mad

I have kept silver even a black aro for over 7 years never had any problem

When people keep a aro in a half full 300 g why don't the say they have a 150 because that's what it is

I've approached large aros in lfs and they are not spooked at all. Maybe it's the many customers approaching the tanks and they are accustomed to it. As far as lower the water, I haven't seen a difference. My jar used to freak out if I approached in the dark and turn on the tank's light.

My arowana are much more skittish while the water level is dropped. But if it works for your aro then great.
