Lowering Water Level helps!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you have low water level you have more chance of the aro jumping out of the tank or doing damage to its self when jumping

Most of a aros power comes from from the last flick of the tail as it's leaving the water

If you have high water levels like close to the over glasses the aro only has a few inches to grain that power

Valid points T1. I think your right with a higher chance of hurting himself with jumping with a slight water drop. The more space he has, the more of a sharp angle his head will point to which could cause spinal damage if he hits the lid and the more streamline his body will be leaping out of the tank. My black bumps his head on the cover here and there by being spooked generally by me crouching to low and close to the tank. He hates that the worst. Maybe he just finds me ugly!lol. If i stand up and look high on the tank, he doesn't mind it and just swims off. But if he is forced to look down at a moving object, he seems to not like it. I just think lowering the water closer to ground level can sometimes have an easing effect on the angle he looks at moving objects even if it's just a few inches and then raise it back up when you feel the aro has calmed. Most aros there is no need for it ime, but there are some crazy aros out there esp my old leichardti!! I dropped it about a foot for him at times. If the aro is used to you being in a low position alot, he may get used to it. I don't remember the skittishness as much when i had tanks on the ground without stands, but i'm not going back to that. Obviously size of tank and swimming space plays a role here too

In a 24" or lower tank you need every inch of depth

Yea for monster dats you've convinced me with your 24" too shallow theory. I can barely do 50% water changes now (& that's with his mohawk down).lol..but for aros..eh..plenty of room to play around with 24inch of height if necessary:p

Not if you have other tank mates
As a just aro tank looks a bit bare just like a just ray tank does
