probably wouldnt be the most quiet thing in the world, as they really are just designed for outdoor ponds and fountains but you never know,
but i would see no issue useing it, great price thats for sure

About 6 months ago I got a handful of SEN pumps from Ken's Fish under Ken's recommendation... They were inexpensive up front and also used low wattage. SEN doesn't make a 2000 gph pump but you could get two 900s for the same price...

The pump you linked us to would work, as it's designed to move water. It doesn't look like it could be used inline, if that matters to you. I wouldn't expect it to be silent, although it may not be loud. I would also expect the pump to have a short life, as the target audience they are made for are not water moving experts.

It sounds like a good 'bang for your buck', but I'd also say there is some risk of the unknown you're gambling on...

Oh, and here are the SEN pumps I was talking about... http://www.kensfish.com/senwaterpumps.html

the big difference is quality. My parents just bought one of those for their pond. It does push a lot of water, but I have my reservations about it lasting any longer than a year or two.

Since pond pumps never have to pump to any height, it is very common that they have low head impellers. (Other times, the only difference in pond models is a longer cord.) It is very important to verify the performance with the pump curve at your tank height.
...Or at least keep your reciept.

Btw, it is super easy to make a low head pump energy efficient. But as soon as you start to approach the higher end of the pump curve (performance limit) then the efficiency drops off sharply. When energy efficiency is a concern, it is important to check the pump curves. I have seen applications where two pumps delivered the same amount of water at a certain height, but one pump did it using half of the electricity as the other.
