My TSN is about 3 inches long and I have been feeding him shrimp pellets. last night around 10 PM I put eight gold fish in his tank and this morning around 11 AM their were only three left. His growth rate has been really slow on a diet of shrimp pellets. Will he grow faster now that I am giving him live food? Also how long will it take for him to get to around ten inches long? Also at three inches long how many feeders should I put in his tank for max growth?

No feeders at all. Put him on a mixed diet of bloodworms, shrimp, and chunks of fish fillet. Unless you Qtank all those feeders first they do more harm than good. They have very little nutritional value as well. I agree and hate shrimp pellets as well, but feeders give me the willies. Everytime I go to the fish stores they look worse and worse. A balanced diet and frequent water changes are key. Also enough room for him to roam around in. I love watching tsn hunt, but there are just no quality feeders unless you qtank them for a few weeks to fatten them, and treat for illnesses they all seem to have. Ich, and columinarius(spelling) are just a few, but most have parasites as well. I only wish I could get a select two of my fish off live food. My B. filamentosum, and B. jurense will only eat live, and I starved them for over a month trying to get them to eat anything else. It's very important to me to keep my fish healthy.

i think earthworms and shrimp is the best food for a small cat. do not use feeders unless you quarantine them for at least a month. i buy feeders and put them in my pond for about 2 months so i know they are nice and healthy. i only feed them to my piranha's because its fun to watch.

i'm glade your TSN is eating, I just got one the other day and he doesn't want to eat anything :( I guess the only other thing i haven't try yet is worms. I wish you the best with your TSN :)

he will grow faster but its best to quarantine the feeders for atleast a month

My RTC has grown insane fast on a diet of Fish Filet (Tilapia), Market Shrimp, Shrimp Pellets, Carnivore Delight pellets, Krill, Bloodworms, Nightcrawlers, Mysis Shrimp, and anything else I put in there.

Key is to vary it, don't feed the same thing all the time.

Agreed with everyone above. No feeders at all. If it was eating prepared before, I'd never put another feeder in the tank unless its a home bred feeder or you qt them, and then id only do it every now and then as a treat.
I feed bloodworms, siversides, fish fillets, beef heart, and earthworms.

feeders are a pain in the butt IMO, expensive (in the long run) and your fish will grow much faster on pellets.
i have all my fish on Hikari Massivore pellets, and it's a little expensive, but they love it, and they grow fast.
and you can also get it pretty reasonable on the internet. www.petsolutions.com is about the best i have found

Has anyone ever tried feeding their cats wild minows from a creek or river? Bad idea?

Just as bad as goldfish. You could get a few pounds of frozen talipia at the supermarket for 10-12 bucks or so, not bad at all.
