This is a good question before I hit the hay.

Has anyone had a lucid dream. Instead of just the dreaming just happening you actually become concious and can literally do what you want. There's suppose to be way to do this and everything, hasn't worked yet.

All I want to do is pillage a town and fly away but I can't lucid dream.:(

From Wiki:

The wake-back-to-bed technique is often the easiest way to encourage a lucid dream. The method involves going to sleep and waking up five to six hours later, focusing all thoughts on lucid dreaming while staying awake for an hour, and going back to sleep while practicing the MILD method. This technique has had a 60% success rate in research.[30] This is because the REM cycles get longer as the night goes on, and this technique takes advantage of the best REM cycle of the night. Because this REM cycle is longer and deeper, gaining lucidity during this time may result in a lengthier lucid dream.

so a lucid dream is where you have complete control of what you are doing in your dream?

Yes. You know how dreams go, they just sort of happen. We follow the path of where the dream takes us. You will become "lucid" awake per say and do what you want. Just like if you were not sleeping but it's a dream and anything can happen in dreams of course.:D One day it will happen.

I'll have to try that one. There's a WILD method. Wake-Induced-Lucid-Dream. You lay down and get as relaxed as possible and just sit there and barely think enough to fall asleep but no thinking soo much that you can't become tired. I've tried this, wasted hours on this one, lol.

i started taking melatonin and it makes your dreams crazy! I have come very close to having lucid dreams but have woken up as soon as i realize i am dreaming

I have them all of the time. It just kinda happens.

They are doing a study now with red light. When you start going through REM cycles, your eyes dance around. There's a headset attached to you head that recognizes this and flashes red light in your face. You then train yourself to control your dream when you see red.

Thats a vague generalization and I might be off. Anybody heard of this?

Tried for like a year after I saw the movie "waking life" and nothing happened so I gave up. A couple weeks after that I had one. Can't say I had total control but I was definitely in control to a point. I'd say I get one about every couple of months or so. The most important thing is to recognize while in the dream that you're dreaming. What worked for me is saying the phrase, "I'm dreaming now" every so often while I'm awake. Sometimes (not as often as I like) while in the dream state I'll say it and that triggers it. Never lasts as long as I like and sometimes its much better than others, but I always wake up feeling great and totally refreshed after one.
