Lucky Bamboo/Pothos Doing Nothing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
+1, more light and circulation. I had a pothos above my 75g with a dual 48" T5HO and it grew like crazy. I also had my canister output aimed at it.

The current is easily adjusted as I can point my powerhead at them and I have a fx5 on the tank (75 gal) so it will be easy.

What kind of light do I need? Please tell me specific kind and watts. I bought a 60 watt fluorescent light which I thought would be sufficient seeing it is a low light plant. The tank is also next to the window so I can always keep the blinds open. Not sure the long T5 lights are an option for me :(

Also, when you got the plant and roots were all stuck together like a box, did you separate them or just try rinsing them as best you could like that?

Opening the blind may cause algae problems? If not yes sunlight is best. Is it just a regular fluorescent fixture with no reflector? The light needs to be down close to the plant. If no reflector you can but a reflector to install in the fixture or just go ghetto and use aluminum foil. Get a good daylight bulb for it from the hardware store if it just has a regular shop bulb. Another option is to buy a cheap clamp lamp or for more money get a hanging pendant fixture with a good reflector and put a good bright daylight compact fluorescent bulb (there are decent ones at the hardware store) and put it close to the plants.

Its a 60watt bright white bulb with a brightness of 800 lumens and light appearance of 3500. I will try the tin foil and it is a clip on lamp so I can move it much closer to the plants.

Thank you so much!

Next time you are at the hardware store look for a ~6500k daylight compact fluorescent.
