Some interesting changes.
This pike has been developing a ruddy orange/red color all over with always-there bars. The bastard looks pretty cool but weird. Almost too weird to for a johanna, but I'm not very familiar with them so IDK.
He finally picked up some speed in growth. It refused to eat for months, seriously. I finally gave in and started feeding store-bought feeders. From there I fed frozen and a few weeks later he started taking pellets. He'll now eat ANYTHING.
I'll try and get pics that show his color. It's hard though. The tank is dark and he freaks out and gets all dark if I put more lights on the tank or try to net him for a shot.
if you can get enough light for the cam to focus the colors should still be there. did it with my cincta, just use a lamp or flashlight and the camera's flash will do the rest.
Definately get some pictures!! There are several variants of johanna btw.... So how it will turn out as an adult is anyones guess, knowing the collection area would help narrow down which variant it is though. It would be awesome if it turned out to be the Rio Madira variant...HOTT!!! I probably spelled that wrong btw...lol...
OK maing. I got this shot Monday I think, right before work. I was the best i could get that morning and I was suprised that I got any that weren't more than a rapid blur.
The shot was taken without flash. What the pic doesn't show very well is that the fish also has a sparse row of faint silver flecks on either side of the dark horizontal line along the fish's body. This is a very warm, excited mood. Just got food and is retreating to it's fave hidey-hole.
I know this one ain't gonna be very much appreciated but it's a different view, albeit a poor one through very dirty glass.
This is a subdued annoyed "ah! Get that camera out of my face!" mood.
Wow!! I knew that was going to turn into an awesome pike from the moment I saw it!! LoL!! Congrats on a pike that makes us ALL jealous!! Would be even crazier if you had a pair! I can only imagine a female! HOTT!!!
