As bad as they are with tank mates, WALs are even worse with their own kind and similar species. I spawned SALs and the pair couldn't tolerate each other until they spawned. As soon as spawning was completed the male drove the female from the nest and continued biting her whenever she got too close to the nest. I had to remove her back to her tank once it looked certain they weren't going to tolerate each other any longer.

You never cease to amaze me... I think we need a thread on this....

I wrote this up like 8 or so years ago. I'll see if I can find it. All the pics are now lost from a crash by a virus that locked up my processor and wiped my drives..

I'll send you some stickers and patches if you find it....:headbang2

This is pretty weird bc my 10inch African is completely skittish to me and always hides when I show up. It also hasn't messed with my two other fish in the tank. The only time it moves it when it comes up for air and when food is in the tank

That's still a juvie. My breeders were 4 foot+ and my P. aethiopicus was over 3 feet. Different behaviors at different ages.

I house a Dolloli and a WAL together in a 100. They are both about 3 ft. The Dolloi will occasionally take a chunk from the WAL but they are ok together for the most part. I have an albino Marble, about 2 ft, that is as mild mannered as can be. He has always been with other fish with no aggression. My SAL is only a foot long and still alone in it's tank. I think the WAL is the best as far as interaction goes.
