Hi, I currently have a 7-8 inch South American lungfish in a 10 gallon planted tank. I will soon be upgrading to a 40 gallon but I was wondering if I could keep him with some Neocaridina shrimp to take care of some of my green algae that is growing on the plants. Would that work?

It would work great for the lungfish...:)

If you mean Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina), they won't eat much algae. They can breed like gangbusters and in a large enough tank they might be able to sustain a population despite predation. Not gonna happen in 10 gallons.

Amano Shrimp (Caridina) are bigger, less colurful, and much better algae eaters. They won't breed in your freshwater tank, so eventually they will get picked off and disappear.

Can the two species of shrimp live together?
